It was a one-sided affair as the Nigerian proved too good for his Egyptian counterpart.

In the U-19 doubles final, it was an all-Nigerian affair as Samuel Boboye and Mati Taiwo emerged victorious in a 3-2 win over Kuti Matthew and Muiz Adegoke.

Likewise, Mati, Boboye and Adegoke crushed Egypt’s Marwan Gamal, Mohamed Azzam and Moamen Salah El Din 3-1 in the final to secure gold in the U-19 boys group.

Nevertheless, Nigeria lost to Egypt in the U-15 men’s final. The group consisting of Kuti Matthew, Mustapha and Musa Mustapha lost 3-1 to the Egyptian team.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian U-19 team had already secured their place at the World Junior Championships after beating Egypt 3-1 in the final of the team event.

The Continental Youth Championships have returned to Tunis since the last edition held in Accra, Ghana in 2019 following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF), the tournament serves as a qualifier for the World Junior Championships to be held later this year at the same venue in Tunisia.
